Test -1: Drawing Test, NATA

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture

This is a two hour paper where candidate has to attempt two Questions. One of the questions has two sub Question

The drawing aptitude is judged on the following aspects:

  • Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner
  • Visualizing and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings
  • Combining and Composing given three dimensional elements to form building or structural form
  • Creation interesting two dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms.
  • Creating visual harmony using colour in given compositions. Understanding of scale and proportions.
  • Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences.

Test -2: Aesthetic Sensitivity Test, NATA

This is computer based test of one hour where candidate has to answer 40 multiple choice questions.

The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with architectural awareness and comprises of

  • Visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings.
  • Visualizing different sides of three dimensional objects.
  • Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities.
  • Analytical reasoning Mental Ability, Imaginative comprehension and expression Architectural awareness

Entrance preparation for JEE-MAINS (B.ARCH)

In Drawing & Painting, you learn to perceive rad and translate the visual world into personal forms of pictorial expression and representation. You acquire knowledge of theory, history and criticism as you develop your relationship to the physical production

Part -1: Drawing Test

Three dimensional- perception:

  • Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, building forms and elements, colour texture, harmony and contrast.
  • Design and Drawing of geometrical or abstract shapes and patterns in pencil.
  • Transformation of forms both 2D and 3D union, subtraction, rotation, development of surface and volumes, Generation of plan, elevations and 3D Views of objects.
  • Creation two dimensional and three dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms.
  • Sketching of scenes and activities form, street scenes, and landscape.

Part -2: Aptitude Test

  • Study of Figures.
  • Place Buildings, Objects & Materials.
  • Texture related to Architecture and build environment.
  • Study of three dimensional objects.
  • Different Perspective Angles of Building & Objects.
